Releasing the stress brake on axon regeneration

In a recent study published in Nature, Halawani et al. identify the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), a sensor of chemical and metabolic cues, as a key regulator of a stress-to-growth switch that suppresses axon regeneration after neural injury. These findings extend the role of bHLH-PAS transcription factors in regenerative control and highlight the importance of modulating stress responses to promote axonal repair.
