Tagging the Tank: Ubiquitin-mediated clearance of cellular energy reserves

The ubiquitin system is fundamental to the control of proteostasis. ANature study by Jochemet al. reveals that ubiquitin is attached to cellular glycogen, triggering lysosomal degradation of aberrant forms, and that this modification also occurs during fasting-induced glycogen catabolism.
