Insect genome engineering is crucial for gene functional analysis and the long-term development of novel pest control technologies. The recently developed engineered nucleases, zinc finger nucleases (ZFNs) and transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs), are capable of facilitating precise genome modifications1.
