Activation of the NAIP/NLRC4 inflammasomes initiates inflammatory
responses against bacterial invasion. Two recent reports described the cryo-EM structure of the flagellin/ NAIP5 complex, providing important insights into the mechanism of bacterial sensing by innate immunity.
