1Children’s Cancer and Blood Foundation Laboratories, Departments of Pediatrics, and Cell and Developmental Biology, Drukier Institute for Children’s Health, Meyer Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medicine, New York, NY 10021, USExosome biogenesis occurs via multiple mechanisms, but how these pathways are controlled remains poorly understood. In a recent study published in Cell Research, Wei et al. identify Rab31 GTPase as a regulator of lipid-mediated exosome biogenesis independent of other commonly-recognized ESCRT and tetraspanin pathways.
