Itch, especially persistent itch (or chronic pruritus) in patients with allergic skin diseases and/or neuropathic problems, significantly affects sleep, mood and individual health. Extensive efforts have been made to develop novel therapeutic strategies to fight itch. Unfortunately, there is no FDA-approved treatment for chronic pruritus despite great efforts in antipruritic research in the past few decades.1
