Activation of innate immune sensors leads to the formation of inflammatory complexes called PANoptosomes that trigger inflammation and the lytic inflammatory cell death PANoptosis. A new study published in Cell now identified NLRC5 as a PANoptosome sensor that responds to NAD+ depletion triggered by heme plus PAMPs or heme plus TNF.
